Methods of Payment
Payments will be accepted by all major credit and debit cards, including Amex,  Mastercard, Visa, Maestro and Electron. We use World Pay to process all online payments. Your card details are communicated directly between your computer and the World Pay secure server using SSL encryption.

Refunds and Exchanges
You have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days upon receipt of the good under the UK Distance Selling Regulations. However please note, in the interests of hygiene, regretfully  this does not apply to pierced earrings.

After this time we will be happy to exchange goods (with the exception of earrings), if they are returned to us in perfect condition and in their original packaging within 28 days of purchase. This does not affect your statutory rights. Please note all measurements are approximate and products may differ slightly from their description.

Data Protection
All personal details entered remain encrypted on our server until orders are downloaded and processed. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with Data Protection Act 1998). We do not supply or sell customer details to any outside organisation


“Jewel in The Crown” is the trading style of  Jewel in the Crown, Distinguished Hotel Jewellers Limited (hereinafter referred to as JiC) and Customers for the supply of goods and services shall be subject to these conditions which shall not be varied by contract terms proposed by the Customer except by a separate written agreement by JiC and the Customer clearly marked Variation of JiC Conditions of Sale and Service.  No employee is authorised to make any statement or promise about goods or services except in writing. Information in catalogues is accurate at the date of going to press and JiC reserves the right to make alterations and may vary prices and charges.

From the time of delivery or performance to the Customer all risks shall be the Customer’s.  Ownership of goods shall not pass to a Customer until payment of the Contract Price has been made in full to JiC.  At all times before payment in full, the goods shall stand in the name of JiC.  JiC shall have a lien on the Customer’s property in respect of services performed to such property.

The Customer shall take the appropriate steps to notify third parties of JiC’s interest in the goods and of services performed and in the event of a threatened seizure of the goods or the Customer’s property to which services have been performed or the appointment of a receiver or liquidator or any other event entitling JiC to terminate this contract the Customer shall immediately notify JiC who shall be entitled to enter the Customer’s premises and repossess the goods and take possession of the Customer’s property to which services have been performed.

Except as provided for herein the Contract Price shall be the agreed price of goods at time of order and the quoted price of services to be performed.

Except as otherwise agreed in writing in respect of all goods and services which have been delivered or performed prior to payment in full being received by JiC payment shall be made within 14 days of the date of invoice.  In the event of late payment the Contract Price shall be increased if applicable so that the Contract Price is not less than the quoted or catalogue price in force at the time of payment and so that no discount whatsoever shall apply and JiC may charge daily interest on late payment at a rate provided by the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 or 5% per annum above the Base Lending Rate of National Westminster Bank if greater.

Notwithstanding any provision herein JiC shall be entitled to maintain an action for the Contract Price at any time after payment falls due.

In the event of circumstances outside of JiC’s control which prevent or delay performance of the contract, JiCshall make and the Customer shall accept interim invoices for materials purchased for the performance of the contract including a labour charge which JiC shall judge to be appropriate.

Unless otherwise stated, quotations are valid for ninety days and delivery and performance is subject to JiC’s prior commitments at the time of acceptance. Unless otherwise stated any contract which requires access to the Customer’s premises or site is to be carried out between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday during normal working weekdays and the Customer must provide appropriate free access failing which JiC reserves the right to cancel the contract and to make a reasonable charge for cancellation or to make an additional charge for inconvenient access.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing the customer will provide and be responsible for:-

All electrical supplies to any agreed specification and in conformity with current IEE and any statutory regulations.  All the equipment deemed necessary by JiC for safe access including but not only scaffolding aerial lifts and safety equipment.  Any facility pertinent to the work being carried out by JiC and performance of the contract.  All necessary permissions licences and security passes and the prompt advices to JiC of relevant dates.  All statutory requirements and industry best practices with regard to compliance with Health & Safety regimes applicable to the Customer’s premises.

All orders are subject to availability of Goods and serviceability.  Cancellation of orders cannot be accepted except with the express written agreement of JiC.

JiC does not guarantee that orders will be available, delivered or completed within specified times and any provision that time shall be the essence of the contract shall be null and void.   Quoted times are deemed to be target times and if delivery or performance is delayed through the default of JiC or its agent JiC’s liability shall be limited in the case of supply of goods to the cost of express parcel post and in the case of supply of services JiC shall have no liability whatsoever.

If delivery or performance is delayed through the default of the Customer or the Customer declines to accept delivery or performance JiC reserves the right to charge additional costs.

The Customer is responsible for prompt inspection of both goods on delivery and installation on completion if appropriate and shall notify JiC and the carrier within 24 hours of receipt of any damage loss or guarantee or warranty claim.

Goods delivered to the Customer shall, in the absence of the Customer or his Agent, be deemed to be of good delivery on the dispatch by post courier or fax or delivery by electronic means of the delivery note to the Customer.

The Customer shall not assign his or her rights or obligations under this Contract without JiC’s written consent.

Guarantees are restricted to the specification published by JiC in catalogue or writing and no other implied specification is accepted.

This guarantee shall apply to newly manufactured fully finished Goods and spare parts.   All servicing repair installation and maintenance arrangements are specifically excluded except as expressed in writing by JiC and shall be construed as limited to appropriate for the age and design of the goods.

The Guarantee Period shall be twelve months from the date of delivery during which period provided that JiC is in receipt from the Customer of the goods which suffer from faulty manufacture or materials or negligence, JiC will replace or at its option repair the faulty goods free of charge subject to the following terms :-

The goods have been properly kept used and maintained in strict accordance with JiC’s instructions of use and best practice.

Jewellery silverware giftware cufflinks crystalware bronzeware and artifacts of personal adornment shall only be used in non hazardous environments including contact with corrosive or toxic materials.

Personal adornment goods used for body piercings including but not only earrings are not exchangeable excepting goods of faulty manufacture.

Goods subject to any exposure to any external and/or non domestic environment or any exposure to excessive heat, moisture or handling or materials hostile to the materials used in manufacture the maintenance of external finishes and the normal operation of mechanisms is deemed to be in breach of the terms of this guarantee.  In the event of any dispute the goods shall be returned to JiC for examination and if there is evidence of mishandling or damage JiC reserves the right to make a charge for such examination in addition to the cost of any repair.

The fault is not due to accidental or wilful damage interference with or maintenance of the goods by persons other than JiC.

The Customer is responsible for the return of the faulty goods at the customer’s expense unless JiC agrees otherwise.

JiC may make a reasonable charge in respect of any visit at the Customer’s request to adjust or repair the goods if no fault is found to exist or the fault is not covered by this guarantee.

This guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear.

Without prejudice to the Guarantee Period this guarantee is effective on payment for the goods and services.  Breach of the terms of payment renders this guarantee null and void.

JiC does not guarantee the regulation of timekeeping of  watches or clocks unless otherwise agreed in writing.

In the event of a claim under guarantee requiring access to the Customer’s premises or site, all the requirements of access under the original contract shall apply amended mutatis mutandis to give free safe and convenient access at the time of visit.

JiC accepts liability for faulty goods and its own negligence to the extent stated herein but not otherwise.

Goods offered for return within thirty days of sale without fault or breach of warranty shall be accepted only subject to the express and discretionary consent of JiC and payment for the goods so offered shall only be by way of a credit note to be redeemed against goods of a similar or greater value within the terms of the issue of the credit note and within a period of twelve months from date of issue.

Except where expressly contained in these Conditions JiC has no obligation duty or liability in contract tort including negligence or breach of statutory duty or otherwise.

The undertaking as to title in Section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 is not excluded.

Where a Customer does not buy goods in the course of a business or holds himself out as doing so this clause does not exclude the undertaking implied by Sections 13 14 and 15 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and does not affect the Customer’s statutory rights.

In any event JiC ‘s liability in contract tort including negligence or breach of statutory duty or otherwise arising by reason of in connection with this contract or howsoever otherwise shall be limited to the value of the contract.

In any event in no circumstances shall JiC be liable in contract tort including negligence or breach of statutory duty or otherwise for loss whether direct or indirect of profits business or anticipated savings or for any indirect or consequential loss or damage whatsoever.

Each provision of this clause is to be construed as a separate limitation applying and surviving even if for any reason one or other of the said provisions is inapplicable or held unreasonable in any circumstances and shall remain in force notwithstanding termination of this contract.

Intellectual property rights and copy right of all documents drawings and information supplied to the Customer in connection with this contract shall remain vested in JiC. Such documents drawings and information shall not be copied disclosed or used except for the purpose for which they were supplied without the written consent of JiC.

Without prejudice to other rights JiC shall have the right to terminate this contract forthwith and to claim for resulting losses and expenses if the Customer commits a breach of this or any other contract with JiC and fails to remedy the breach within a reasonable time of a written notice to do so or the Customer commits any act of bankruptcy or a petition or receiving order is presented against the Customer or a petition for an administration order is presented in relation to the Customer for a resolution or a petition to wind up the Customer is passed or presented otherwise than for reconstruction or amalgamation or a receiver or administrative receiver is appointed.

JiC shall not be liable in respect of any breach of this Contract due to any cause beyond its reasonable control including the acts or omissions of sub contractors to JiC the incapacity of any JiC employee an Act of God inclement weather flood lightning or fire industrial action or lockouts the act or omission of Govemment highways authorities other competent authority and their sub contractors and agencies war military operations or riot the act or omission of any party for whom JiC is not responsible.

This contract shall be deemed to made in England according to English Law and subject to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.
